Tyson Foods says cooperating with DoJ in chicken price-fixing probe


June 10 (Reuters)Tyson Meals Inc TSN.N stated on Wednesday it was cooperating with the U.S. Division of Justice on a price-fixing investigation within the poultry business, underneath a program that might defend the meat processor from prison prosecution.

Tyson, which was served with a subpoena in April 2019, stated the formal grant underneath the DoJ’s company leniency program would imply neither the corporate nor its workers will face prison fines, jail time or prosecution.

The information comes per week after the chief govt of poultry firm Pilgrim’s Pleasure Corp PPC.O was indicted together with three different present and former business executives on fees of in search of to repair hen costs in america.

The fees have been the primary in a prison probe of price-fixing and bid-rigging involving broiler birds, which account for many hen meat bought in america.

Grocers, retailers and shoppers have accused Pilgrim’s Pleasure, Tyson Meals and different poultry processors of conspiring since 2008 to inflate costs for broiler chickens.
