$25 million gift to fund new Institute for Data & Society at Notre Dame // The Observer

Notre Dame has been given a $25 million present to determine the Lucy Household Institute for Knowledge & Society, based on a College press launch Friday.

The institute will develop Notre Dame’s data-based educational applications and function “an interdisciplinary, university-wide hub that may join school, college students and analysis throughout present knowledge science and analytics applications on campus,” based on the discharge.

College provost Tom Burish stated the Lucy Household Institute will work with College’s present data-driven educational and analysis applications to carry knowledge science to a broader vary of disciplines, together with well being, enterprise and the social sciences. The institute may also be host to educational publications and conferences, and search partnerships with outdoors entities.

Alumnus Robert Lumpkins and his spouse, Sara, who graduated from Saint Mary’s, donated the $25 million present.
